SigEp will partner this year with Best Buddies International
This year the SigEps at Utah Alpha are proud to partner with Best Buddies International, and in doing so, donate 75% of the proceeds of the Balanced Man Triathlon directly to the Utah State University Chapter. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to "establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities."
Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, Best Buddies became America’s first national, unified, social and recreational program for people with intellectual disabilities.
Best Buddies is a program that has rapidly expanded from its one original chapter to an international organization with over 1500 middle school, high school, and college chapters. Now in all 50 states as well as over 50 countries, Best Buddies has positively impacted over 700,000 people with or without intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD).
SigEp is very excited to be able to see the direct benefits of our Triathlon as all our contributions will go directly to the Utah State Chapter which helps engage many with IDD throughout Cache Valley.
Although Best Buddies International has grown tremendously in the past few years, it has retained its original mission and grassroots message. We at Sigma Phi Epsilon - Utah Alpha are honored to stand alongside Best Buddies in their efforts to create more promising futures for those with disabilities.
